In my past work, I have managed many events, designed installations, run community and stakeholder meetings, as well as led workshops, and taught students at many age levels. I love collaborating with a team but I also do smaller solo projects. I accept work through my personal business and with the incredible team at Ignite Design Group. Collaborative & Creative
Community Engagement
This work might start with developing a community outreach strategy, hosting community listening sessions, or developing a community survey. Further into a project, it might mean hosting events, community charrettes, or workshops.
History-Centered Community Research
I believe extensive historical research led by community members is essential to effective, lasting, and equitable community development. I have established many tools and practices that I include in my work process to insure historical research is centered in all of my projects. I love doing this work and would be happy to discuss historical research paths for your project.
Program Creation & Management
I have managed a large portfolio of community programs from their inception and creation and over multiple years of growth and redesign. The work might initially entail a program and community need audit, stakeholder interviews, budget review, and strategic planning.
Design Thinking Workshop Facilitation
I love facilitating design thinking workshops for public service professionals, students, and community groups. I have a workshop framework that invites creative community building and includes a workbook with resources that everyone leaves with. Design Research
I enjoy the process of extensive research and I believe good design requires good research. I have worked on a National Science Foundation food waste project where I conducted research with career academic researchers and I have also worked with incredible community archivists. Each project requires a different research method and I in turn practice an extensive planning process to make sure all elements of research are considered to create a unique plan for the project's research.
Community Survey and Data Collection
I often conduct community surveys and data collection. I also love to reimagine that process with community members to collect information and data in a way that is collaborative, intentional, and sometimes even fun.
